Lord Petre, Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for Essex first became aware of the work of The Dynamic Duo in early March when he was asked to become their first official Patron.

Lord John Petre of Ingatestone, Essex is the 18th. Lord of the Manor and was appointed Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for Essex in October 2002, having been a Deputy Lieutenant since 1991. As HM Lord Lieutenant for Essex, Lord Petre is the Queen's representative throughout the county. Other current appointments include Chairman, Thomas Phillips Price Trust and President of the Brentwood Theatre Trust.

Lord Petre is an Oxford MA and is Patron, President or Committee Member of a wide variety of county or more local bodies. As ex officio Chairman of the Lord Chancellors Advisory Committee for Essex, Lord Petre is also a Justice of the Peace (JP).

Since 1970, Lord Petre has been involved in the management of his family's 3000 acre rural estate of which, since his fathers death in 1989, he has been in sole charge. The estate comprises both in-hand and let farms, woodland, historic house open to the public* and a variety of let residential property. Lord Petre is also Lord of the Manor of 17 manors in the Chelmsford/Brentwood/Billericay area. Prior to that, Lord Petre worked in management at a number of London theatres in a variety of capacities and ultimately as General Manager of Hampstead Theatre Club.

The Petre family has been a constant pillar of the establishment, which has played a great part in the history of England and whose members have been in close service of the Crown for generations.
